MEMORIES & WORDS

Photographs, and words from that time.

This year, joint research with Dr. Mitsukura of Keio University will begin, studying people as they experience the artwork LIFE INOCHI,

quantifying brainwave and hormone responses

to gather evidence of the reactions that occur!

Professor Yasue Mitsukura of Keio University

is an inventor with 17 patents, including applications pending,

She holds doctorates in engineering and medicine,

and developed the world’s first real-time emotion recognition tool that instantly measures brain waves and hormones,

the “Kansei Analyzer,” which was also selected as one of the world’s 50 inventions.

When you wear this device and take measurements,

it can indicate whether you are truly interested, among other things.

Because it quantifies emotions in real time,

it is used around the world in product development and research by major companies.

There have been many articles about her work; here are just a few.

We understand that Professor Mitsukura also appears as a news commentator on TBS’s Saturday program “Information 7days,” hosted by Azumi.

Yesterday marked our very first experiment!

At Galaxcity in Adachi, Tokyo,

we carried out the experiment.

And the results were astonishing!

They surprised even Professor Mitsukura!

The stress hormone

cortisol is apparently difficult to reduce,

and a reduction exceeding 20%

is something she has rarely seen.

Yet all three participants reportedly showed a reduction of around 20%! One person’s reduction was 28%!!

To reduce cortisol,

bathing in a hot spring is said to be effective,

but while watching “LIFE INOCHI,”

the measured reduction reportedly exceeded that seen with hot-spring bathing!

She was very surprised by results that went far beyond her expectations.

Professor Mitsukura’s team is wonderfully international.

Associate professors and assistants from China and Indonesia helped take measurements with us this time. We also discussed the possibility of making the work multilingual.

From here, trials will take place across a range of fields, including healthcare, education, retreats, and orchestral performances.

Professor Mitsukura, who is also a psychiatrist, saw potential for addressing issues facing Japan, including depression, high suicide rates,

and low self-esteem, among other social challenges.

Gathering evidence opens up more possibilities for “LIFE INOCHI” to serve people in different ways.

“Let’s make it possible to screen LIFE INOCHI in many more places!”

The hopes of the many people who have spoken up for this can now spread further, supported by evidence.

We hope to keep moving forward so that the work can be of help to many people.
