EXPO Hall “Shining Hat” carries forward the message of the Tower of the Sun.
A symbolic presence at Expo 2025,
it is a venue that connects the universe and the Earth.
The opening and closing ceremonies will take place here.
October 11, 2025
At this EXPO Hall at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan,
an “INOCHI Declaration” ceremony will be held for the world.
For this Expo, whose theme is life,
the declaration will carry profound significance in connecting it to future Expos.
The Inochi Forum, which will make the declaration,
was established under the leadership of the president of Osaka University,
in cooperation with the business community and the Expo association.
Professor Takao Dome, director of Osaka University’s Social Solution Initiative (SSI), plays a central role in its many activities.
When we first met,
Professor Dome showed me words setting out the principles to which the Inochi Forum should always return,
written like a poem in language even children could understand.
As I looked at them, I could hear the sounds the words wanted to carry.
A melody was calling,
and after just a few minutes with the poem, a song was born.
The poem changed hardly at all.
It remained almost exactly as it was.
The words and the sound fit together so perfectly
that even I was surprised—this rarely happens...
It felt like destiny.
On July 23, exactly two months before the event at Koyasan,
Professor Dome invited us to Osaka University’s Nakanoshima campus, to the “Inochi Empathy Plaza.”
There, we shared the resonance of the newly born “Song of Life,” and he listened with tears in his eyes.
We hope to unveil it for the first time on September 23 at World Heritage Koyasan!
And we hope to share another wonderful announcement there!
It is an extraordinary honor,
but at the very same venue where the “INOCHI Declaration” will be made,
the Shining Hat,
“LIFE INOCHI” will also let the resonance of life ring out to the world.
Osaka University’s Social Solution Initiative (SSI) was established in April 2018.
LIFE INOCHI was born in April 2018.
Two lives with their own purpose
were born at the same time,
and after growing steadily for seven years,
destiny brings them to the same hall at the Expo.
It feels as though, at last,
an answer is coming into view.
It has always been this way:
there is a resonance that words cannot fully convey.
What we want to share
is what lies deep within this resonance—to communicate it and feel it together.
Connecting the universe and the Earth. Connecting the Earth and its people.
Now the time has come for our commitment, with the power to shape the course of this era, to be truly tested.
On September 23, at World Heritage Koyasan,
Professor Dome, an Aide to the President and Distinguished Professor at Osaka University,
and director of its Social Solution Initiative (SSI),
will join us for an Inochi Summit!
From Japan to the world,
we will give voice to an important message.
Now, the door to the sacred cave is about to open toward that future.
September 23, World Heritage Koyasan
Let’s open the door together!
