He joined us last year at the LIFE Education® event in Aso on August 8.
A co-created event with LIFE Education® guest teacher 岸田宗範.
Mr. Kishida knows Aso extremely well.
What was intended to be a single session grew, with everyone’s enthusiasm, into three. We are sure he will share many fascinating stories again this time.
岸田宗範
After completing a master’s program at the University of Tokyo, he joined the Ministry of the Environment. His university research focused on the oceans. From 2011, he spent approximately five years working in the management of Aso-Kuju National Park and Unzen-Amakusa National Park. Following the Kumamoto earthquakes, he became involved in recovery support. Since 2018, he has led the Hinokuni Project, uncovering and sharing the forgotten history and legends of the “Land of Fire.”
— Message —
Six years have passed since the Kumamoto earthquakes of April 2016. In the affected town of Mashiki and the Aso region, people are steadily taking steps toward recovery. Through that process, something has come into view anew.
Might the wisdom of our predecessors, rediscovered in the wake of the earthquakes, offer us clues for living in today’s world?
Taking examples from the “Land of Fire” as a starting point, I would like to reflect with you on the wisdom our predecessors left us for living alongside an active Earth.
Everyone is warmly welcome to join us! (^.^)
