LIFE / OUR ARCHIVE

World Heritage Kumano Hayatama Taisha and the Kumano Children’s Summit

Encounters with life, shared in many places.
Follow those moments through photographs and the words of the time.

The old event list gives July 26, while the individual announcement gives July 27. Because these differ, the record summary states July 2024. The individual announcement from that time follows below.

MEMORIES & WORDS

Photographs, and words from that time.

“LIFE INOCHI” screening with live narration by Masahiko Hashimoto

Chief Priest Ueno of Kumano Hayatama Taisha, president of the National Kumano Association,

wanted to share something that only Kumano can offer

with the children of the future.

“I want to offer something authentic that conveys the essence of life.”

After LIFE INOCHI was screened at the Summit of the Three Sacred Sites in the Kii Mountain Range,

when we first met Chief Priest Ueno,

he spoke these words with tears in his eyes.

Chief Priest Ueno was thinking deeply about the future of this Earth, all living beings, and, above all, children.

At Kumano Hayatama Taisha, marking 20 years since its World Heritage inscription,

young people will reflect together on life, and on both the appeal and challenges of Kumano,

exploring what Kumano alone can offer for the future.

It is with these hopes that the Kumano Children’s Summit will take place!

A wonderful initiative is beginning at one of Japan’s great sacred sites. Please join us.

I will also bring the story of life to you through live narration!

And then,

continuing in this spirit, we will hold a retreat from the following day, the 28th.

A richly rewarding retreat visiting sacred places with Professor Mitsuishi, who helped guide the Kumano Kodo toward World Heritage status!

At night, we will awaken our senses through energy work, experiencing “oneness”—the connection between our own life and all things.

We will receive renewed strength to create the future.

Please join us for this special opportunity!

We are considering two-day, one-night and three-day, two-night plans.

Starting from Shingu, we will visit sacred sites along the way to Ise Jingu.
