Pilgrimage of LIFE
An initiative that draws on Japan’s cultural heritage

Rediscover the wonder of life at Japan’s sacred sites.
The Japanese people have embraced a spirit akin to the SDGs since ancient times.
It is the value of shinra bansho: respect for the whole of existence and for nature.
They have walked alongside nature with an understanding that our lives are sustained by something beyond ourselves.
This understanding extends beyond visible, biological life
to an invisible continuity, passed on through time,
in which we are part of a greater life.
Rather than seeing life only as an individual existence,
it cherishes the idea that all life forms one continuous whole.
This is a concept that has long been held dear.
The wisdom born from it has informed clothing, food, housing, art, culture, buildings, historic sites,
and every aspect of the way life is lived.
Japan, the world’s oldest country.
The spirituality and wisdom of the Japanese people are expressed
in nature, shrines, temples, historic sites, and traditional culture.
As we receive, through our senses, the spirit and values that lie within each region,
we rediscover the understanding of life at the root of who we are.
